"O. Winston
Links"
Welcome to The Nocturnes Night Photography links page —
O. Winston Links! Throughout The Nocturnes site, you can find
THE largest collection of stellar Night Photography links ANYWHERE,
embedded everywhere — from our online shows and Gallery,
to this links page, and our Blog
(for even more!), representing the work of some 200+ artists.
The title of this links page, of course, refers to renowned
photographer O. Winston Link (1914 - 2001), who documented the
last mainline steam railroad in America, the Norfolk and Western,
from 1955 to 1960, much of the work done at night. A train buff
since childhood, Link spent five years making 2,400 photographs
— each meticulously planned and composed on his 4x5 Speed
Graphic — to document the final days of steam.
