"New York is cold, but I like where I'm living,
There's music on Clinton Street, all thru the evening."

"Famous Blue Raincoat" by Leonard Cohen

We are indebted to noted New York photographer Jan Staller for accepting the role of Juror for this show - not an easy task, I assure you! He is no stranger to the night, nor to the strange beauty that is New York ("the city that never sleeps") in the wee small hours of the night. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Staller's alien color nightscapes. mostly photographed around New York City, provided inspiration for many an aspiring young night photographer - even out here on the "left coast."

According to Jan, he would have preferred a Jury of 12 for the task of selecting these winners! This is something we've heard (and I'm sure that all participants and viewers of these online exhibits are aware of) often before - it REALLY is hard picking these award winners, with so many excellent submissions! As Curator, it's also a real joy to see the number of entries coming in, and from so many different locales - note that in this show in particular, half of all entries were from New York State or the East Coast! Thank you so much.

Enjoy! And give us feedback through our NightTalk message board.
