Curriculum
This special introductory Night Photography Workshop will be held
on date TBA from 8pm to 11pm at Yerba Buena Gardens, in SOMA's Museum
District.
This workshop is for people who would like to learn how to better photograph
after dark, with either digital cameras or film, in an urban enivronment.
Workshop participants will utilize a mix of moonlight, existing artificial
light sources, and supplemental lighting. These will be relatively short
exposures, mostly illuminated by streetlight and ambient light. A follow-up
session to view images, prints or transparencies, critique work, and problem-solve
can be arranged, depending on participant interest.
Emphasis will be on evaluating existing lighting situations and exposing
accordingly. Transparency, b/w, color negative films, as well as digital
will be discussed and compared. This is an intensive workshop limited
to 15 participants who will be closely supervised on location.
Supplemental lighting possibilities will be discussed and demonstrated,
with an emphasis on "Light Painting" techniques, where appropriate. Students
provide their own equipment and should be familiar with basic photographic
techniques. A basic, 'low-tech' equipment and film list for digital and
film cameras, as well as a pre-workshop questionnaire, and meeting details
for the Workshop will be provided upon registration
